Debate on arts group
The role of community arts councils is the theme for the annual meeting of the Southern Regional Arts Council, to be held in Timaru on August 20 and 21. The Mayor of Timaru (Mr C. R. Hervey) will open the conference. and other speakers will include the Minister for the Arts (Mr Highet), the chairman of the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council (Mr Hamish Keith), and the chairman of the southern region (Mr Maurice Till). The special guest speaker will be Miss Beverley Wakem, head of programme services for Radio New Zealand. She will discuss broadcasting matters in relation to the council.
