Rubbish pit not wanted
The Waimairi County
Council has supported an objection made by its chairman (Mr Barry Rich) to the refuse tip proposed for the Pound Road-Hasketts Road area.
The tip is proposed by the Paparua County Council and would be situated near the Christchurch Airport.
There has been some concern about the danger to aircraft from seagulls attracted to a pit in this area and pollution to underground water supplies. The Christchurch City Council has also objected to the pit.
