High entry for Maori contest
Student entries for the Canterbury regional Maori language competitions this year are at a record level.
Two students have entered an English-speaking contest for Maori secondary school students, and four have entered a Maori-speaking contest for Maori or pakeha students.
The competitions will be this evening at the Rehua Hostel. The winners will compete in the finals in the North Island next month.
The competitions are run by the Post-Primary Teachers’ Association.
