Renomination declined

Special correspondent Westport A long link With the administrative side of trotting was broken when Mr W. A. (Bill) Craddock declined renomination as president of the Westport club, at its annual meeting on Thursday, because of ill health. He had held the position since 1966 and had previously served 27 years as secretary. Mr Craddock was also a member of the Trotting Conference for nine years.

His connection with the sport started about 52 years ago and he has ridden, driven, trained, bred and owned many good performers since he drove a roan, Skillicorn, to victory at a Westport meeting as a youth. He has been associated with the top-clan trotters, Rew a Seott (Rowe Cup) and Our Own (N.Z. Trotting Stakes), and other wln-

ners such as St Mary, Who Knows, Dramatist and, more recently, Life Member and Miss Honour. Mr Craddock also bred the champion free-legged trotter. Durban Chief, w-inner of two Dominion Handicaps. He is a life member of the Trotting Conference and also of his club. A prominent figure in rugby circles for 50 years, Mr Craddock is also a life member of the NevZealand Rugby Union. (Digger) Hartigan, vice-president for some years. Two new vice-presidents were elected at the annual meeting. Messrs W White and W. J. Craddock. Mr Bernard McEnaney succeeds the late Mr C. F. Schadlck as treasurer.
