The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons has accepted a programme of regional recognition in place of the previously granted local hospital accreditation. The central region of New Zealand has gained such recognition from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for regional training. Applications for Registrar positions within the central region are invited. The following categories of positions are available: 1. SENIOR REGISTRARS (Annual Appointment): For Registrars with a Fellowship of one of the Royal Colleges, vacancies exist in: Cardiothoracic Surgery (1) Neurosurgery (1) Orthopaedic Surgery (1) Plastic Surgery (1) Urology (1) 2. ACCREDITED TRAINEE REGISTRARS — General Surgery: (a) Junior Registrars (2-year appointment) 8 (3) For Registrars in basic training preparing for Part I F.R.A.C.S. '’’>) Registrars (4-year appointment)* (8) For Registrars preparing for Part II F.R.A.C.S. A six-monthly rotation including General Surgery (at base and provincial hospitals), Orthopaedics and another surgical specialty. Appointees will be given a detailed programme of rotation on appointment. REGISTRAR POSITIONS IN SURGICAL SPECIALTIES: Annual Appointment. These positions are not included in the “General Surgical Rotation” but are recognised by R.A.C.S. as specialist training positions.
