Rights of paid officials

Paid officials of the conference and their wives, other than stipendiary stewards, handicappers and the keeper of the Stud Book, will be able to breed and sell horses. This was decided after a remit had been amended at the annual meeting of the Trotting Conference in Christchurch yesterday.

The remit, sponsored by the executive, had been brought forward in the interests of "two office boys," said the president (Mr G. C. Cruickshank) in reply to Mr N. E. Pierce (Invercargill). "What about a veterinarian?" asked Mr Pierce. The conference had a veterinary advisor who is a licensed person and he was paid a fee, he said.
