Use of buses
Sir, — In reading the article on the Values Party transport policy (“The Press,” June 30), I am happy to see some up-to-date thinking. In the United States the onefare, transfer system in public transport has been used ever since I can remember, with fare boxes on the buses.
It is safe and economical. New Zealand’s ticket punch, section and giving change system is obsolete and a security risk. More power to the Values Party transport ideas. It is 1977, not 1927. — Yours, etc., ERIC LIND. June 30, 1977.
