Man hurt in air crash

PA Invercargill An Auckland man was in a serious condition in Kew Hospital, Invercargill, last evening, after the light aircraft he was in crashed near Te Anau. He is Mr Alan Smallfield, of Herne Bay, Auckland. A spokesman for the Invercargill police said that the accident occurred at the Waiau airstrip, two miles south of Te Anau, about 5.45 p.m. Cycling.—The Melbourne professional cyclist Robin Croker, now living in London, had his first professional road victory when he wen the one hour race at Bedford Park, Bedford He rode for Australia in the Christchurch Commonwealth Games.
