Parliament's diary
Members tabled four notices of motion when Parliament sat at 9 a.m. yesterday. Ministers replied to 10 questions. The Citizens and Aliens Bill was introduced by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet) and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Harbours Amendment Bill was reported back from the Local Bills Committee with amendment and referred to the Lands and Agriculture Committee. Four petitions relating to
nuclear power and visits to New Zealand ports by nuclear-powered vessels were reported back from the Petitions Committee with the recommendation that they be considered by the Government, together with a rider that the petitions would have been more appropriately dealt with bv the Royal Commission on nuclear energy. The opposition lost a resulting division, 25-4). Members then continued the Address-in-Reply debate until the 1 p.m. adjournment.
