Masked man flees
A masked man brandishing a .22 rifle apparently lost his nerve while attempting to hold up Fowler’s Dairy in Worcester Street. Linwood, late I last evening. The man walked into the dairy about 10 p.m., pointed the weapon at the shop assistant, and demanded money. The shop assistant walked to the rear of the i shop and returned in time to see the would-be. robi her running out the door. ■ A search of the area by detectives, uniformed | policemen, and tracker I dogs revealed no trace of him. The man, who was still being sought early this morning, was described as being sft 6in, of solid build, with dark hair. He was wearing a balaclava, a blue denim jacket, and blue jeans.
Boxer.—A former world, bantam-weight boxing champion. Lionel Rose, has been arrested j and charged with assault in Melbourne. Rose, aged 28. was! arrested after an incident at a: service station.
