Stockwell wins cycling
i PA InvercargH' i Blair Stockwell, the Christ I church cyclist, convincingly won i the Queenstown cycling tour at [ the week-end and broke the record for the 40km Kingston Frankton stage of the tour by one minute 83 seconds, creatlr.it a record of 58 minutes 17 seconds'. The tour got under way at 9 a.m. on Saturday and the first stage belonged to Paul .lesson. I also of Christchurch. He showed the kind of form which von him the Tour of Belgium, the Rothmans Tour of Southland, and the Dulux race last year. Of the 36 original starters, only 27 reached Kingston. The Timaru cyclist, Wayne Howes, surprised with a win in th* I><: stage, with John Delore (Car.t?’bury) second and Stockwell th);'!.
