Mairehau High brilliant

Mairehau High School played a brilliant game of basketball to beat Checkers, 69-61. in the women’s A grade section at Cowles Stadium on Saturday. Tile teams were neck and neck for most of the game, and at half-time Mairehau held a narrow lead of 30-29. Jeanette Howard excelled for Mairehau, scoring prolifically in the first half. She finished with a total of 31 points. The Checkers scoring was evenly distributed, with Sharon Rennejl and Heather Morrison providing some excellent shots.
