P'eces bv Tomkins and Gib-;i bons. also modal in har-,. rnony were more freely j;
based. They all have contrapuntal ingenuity, which Professor Hendrie brought to life in sparkling fashion with part-playing of immaculate clarity. Within a style of writing that gives strong family likeness between 'compositions, he brought out each one’s individuality with subtle phrasings and ornai mentation. His playing gave each its owm sparkle and: vivid vitality. , Professor Hendrie will■ iplay in the Christchurch: Cathedral at 5.30p.m. today: a programme of Bach’s compositions, when opportunityi ’will be given to hear this' erudite player in more ex- ■ , tended compositions. The; opportunity should not be| i missed.
