Show dogs and hydatids
Sir, —I strongly object to publicity concerning show dog owners not having hydatids certificates to produce on demand. I show dogs and go to trials, and have my dogs dosed every six weeks except when the bitches are in whelp. They
are under my control at all times, and have an annual vaccination and a controlled diet. What about the "pets” that carry distemper without control until it is too late? How often do hydatids officers stop a car at weekends to check a family pet’s certificate? Do not be so eager to criticise the Kennel Club. We members pay our dues to the council and the dog clubs, and hold shows and trials on our own grounds, not in public recreation areas. — Yours, etc., DAPHNE COOKE (Mrs). May 30, 1977.
