N.S.W. sale in January
NZPA Sydney Thoroughbred breeders in New South Wales have given their approval to the holding of a Yearling Sale in early Januarytwo weeks before New Zealand’s National Yearling Sale at Trentham. Bert Lillye, a turf writer with the "Sydney Morning Herald,” predicted yesterday that New Zealand breeders will "seethe at the news.” The breeders decided that the first of two "selected” sales would be held at Newmarket, Sydney, on January 9. New South Wales breeders have In the past held back their best yearlings until Easter, and the move forward Is designed to let the past big spenders in New Zealand have a look at the Sydney offering before they expend their budgets. Fiv e hundred yearlings are expected to go under the hammer in January, another 450 in midFebruary and a further 450 at Easter. The second “selected” catalogue will be offered at Easter.
