Special correspondent Hastings Rag Doll Is the Hawke’s Bay I •'broodmare of the year” of the 1975-1976 racing season, complet'tng a double in the new and ■ popular award. At a function in Hastings on | Sunday night, Rag Doll was selecI ted over Tarlngama, Gem and I Pin as the mare which has done :the most for the Hawke’s Bay thoroughbred breeding Industry, in the season Just passed. This is only the second time the award has been made and both times it has gone to Rag Doll. Rag Doll had only one horse representing her last season, • Mop, and she was tremendously successful. Mop won the Marlboro three- • vear-old Filly of the Year Award ■with wins in three of the nine I races in the series and seconds 1 in two others. She won $34,650 In stake money > from eight starts, including four ■wins and three seconds.
