The official police policy on boxing tournaments not being permitted on licensed premises is currently being reviewed, said Superintendent J. A. Jamieson yesterday. “The view is to make it not quite so inflexible, and to take each case on its merits,” said Superintendent Jamieson. “We have to have regard as to whether liquor is available: whether intoxication is likelv, before or during the events, arid the suitability of the premises. “The C.B.A. is now free to make application for a police permit and this win be considered on its merits,” said Superintendent Jamieson. ‘lf it meets the criteria, it will be granted.” The new president of the C.B.A. (Mr M. V. Drury) was delighted” to hear the news. T am overwhelmed that the boxing fraternity win be able to have the best of facilities for the heavy programme that faces i it,” said Mr Drury.
