Woman dies in fire
PA , Blenheim Firemen arrived at a house in Blenheim early yesterday to find a woman dead in a smouldering bed. She was Joan Fairweather, aged 61, of Blenheim. The Chief Fire Officer in Blenheim (Mr Geoff Stephens) said that the fire was confined to the bed and bedding where Mrs Fairweather was found. Her husband was asleep in another room when the fire broke out. The police believe that the fire may have been caused by a cigarette butt.
