HOLIDAY FLATS FOR THE FAMIL Y

The Canterbury and West Coast Branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society (Inc.) now has two holiday flats at 51 and 53 Lonsdale Street, New Brighton, Christchurch. The flats were built for the use of families who have a child registered

with any branch of the society and are free of charge. Only toll calls and breakages should be paid for. One flat has beds for eight people and the other for six. There are no steps — ramps and wide doorways make it easy for wheelchairs to be used inside. The flats are near the beach, handy to the shopping centre and very easy to look after. Everything except linen and food is provided. Bookings are accepted on the society’s application form. This form gives full details. The society’s Committee decides the priorities but the following are the general rules: • Applications for the

following December and January may be made any time after April 1. For all other holiday periods (including long week-ends) applications are accepted six months in advance. • Holidays are allocated as follows: One week per family during school holidays and two weeks at any other time. Special arrangements may be made for families from outside Christchurch who have to come for treatment or educational assessment. • Families who do not have children at school are asked to apply for times other than school holidays. • Preference will be given to families who have not previously stayed in one of the flats.
