Ginn wins Malaysian open golf
NZPA Kuala Lumpur Stewart Ginn, of Australia, maintained his overnight lead to win the sixteenth Malaysian open golf championship yesterday with a four-day total of 12-under-par 276, the Associated Press reported.
One stroke behind him was Kazunari Takahashi, of Japan, while yet another stroke behind him were Mya Aye, of Burma, and Brian Jones of Australia.
Hsieh Min Nan, of Taiwan, was in fourth spot with a 280, while Martin Bohen, of the United States, and Simon Owen, of New Zealand, were one stroke behind the Taiwanese.
Ginn, who said he was helped a great deal by the good drives he made, was on 10-under-par 206 on Saturday after he bettered the course record by one stroke with a nine-under-par 63. Simon Owen was leading after the second round but a disastrous 76 in the third! round on Saturday put paid; to his chances. Yesterday he! finished with a 70. Noel Ratcliffe (Australia) finished with 72, 68, 72, 73—( 285, while Ted Ball shot 75,| 74, 67, 73 —289. Stuart Reese ■ (New Zealand) had 73, 74, 70,, 76—293 and another New! Zealander, Richard Coombes,! finished with 74. 75, 74. 76 — 1 299.
