suburbs Sir, — I wonder if all the people who complain of heavy stock trucks “thundering'' through town are vegetarians? Surely some would
complain if there was no fresh meat in the butchers’ shops. I agree that the trucks should not travel through residential areas, but who decided that saleyards, freezing works etc., be where they are? A thought should also be spared for the drivers who work long hours carting this stock. Much of the smell from the trucks would be eliminated if farmers were to let their stock “emptyout” before loading on to the trucks. This would bring better prices for clean stock and make the long suffering “truckles” happier. — Yours, etc.,
