Litter at sports grounds
Sir,—On a recent radio programme the speaker commented on the disgraceful amount of litter left at Lancaster Park after a day’s play in the cricket test match. I strongly support his criticism, but spectators had no option but to drop their litter on
the ground as there were no rubbish receptacles provided either in the stands or on the embankment. I feel the Victory Park Board should attend to this matter. They are not alone in their disregard of litter, as at the recent international athletic meeting at Q.E.11 Park, although rubbish containers were provided, these soon overflowed and remained there along with the litter on the stand floor for spectators to walk through at the Trans-Tasman schools meeting next day.—Yours, etc., J. BENNETT. February 23, 1977.
