$50,000 at gate
The $6700 taken at the turnstiles yesterday extended the total gate receipts for the test to $50,000. The second test starts in Auckland tomorrow, and there seems do doubt that the New Zealand Cricket Council will reap quite a lucrath c profit from the Rothmans tour. The aggregate takings of about $lOB,OOO have largely offset the expenditure of $135,000. Doug Walters, who scored 250 in Australia’s first innings, was judged the winner of the' $l5O “man of the match” award and the teams shared the $750 prize money provided by Rothmans.
