Water polo award
Richard Clark, a member of the New Zealand water polo team which has just returned from Brisbane, has been named the seventh winner of the Southern Cross Trophy for the “player of the year”.
Clark received the trophy | from the manager of the 'Shirley Lodge Motor Hotel, Mr W. Garth, at a prize-giv-ing fund ion. j The award was made by |lhe Canterbury coach, Warwick Williamson, the chief referee, Jaap de Haan, and Ray Cairns, water polo reporter of “The Press.” who named the New Zealand goalie. Murray Davie, as runner-up to Clark. Lindsay Scott, the Canterbury under--19 coach, was the other player considered.
