Whale towed out to sea
PA Wanganui A 6.3 m whale stranded on South Beach, Wanganui, for 18 hours, was successfully refloated and towed out'to sea yesterday afternoon still alive, and last seen swimming vigorously. In a rescue organised by Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries officials, a helicopter. a fishing traw’ler. and spectators combined in efforts to put a heavy line round the whale’s tail and tow it to deep water.
