Pakistan beaten by W.A.
NZPA Perth Western Australia completed a remarkable hat trick of wins over touring international sides when it hammered the Pakistan bowlers and cruised to a sixwicket victory in a three-day match at the Waca ground in Perth yesterday. The home side had 2.7 overs to spare as the captain, Rod Marsh, scored the winning run. The heroes of Western Australia’s great victory’ were the left-hander, Rob Langer, who cracked a superb 87, Kim Hughes, who scored a brilliant unbeaten 137, and Rod Marsh, who steered his side home with an unbeaten 39. Two years ago Western Australia beat the M.C.C. by 120 runs and last year they beat the West Indies by 115 runs.
The. Western Australian batsmen gave a tremendous exhibition of controlled hitting to score 333 runs in only 258 minutes off 44.1 overs.
Earlier Pakistan had declared at 319 for five, with the captain, Mushtaq Mohammad, scoring an unbeaten 132 and Zaheer Abbas 69.
