PA Wellington Yesterday appears to have been the wettest day in Wellington since records began in 1862. More than 130 mm of rain fell in Kelbum from midnight on Sunday until 4.30 p.m. yesterday. The previous highest recorded rainfall in Wellington city for 24 hours was 161 mm which fell on February 25, 1911, a spokesman for the Weather Office said.
