Women’s cricket to India
! PA Auckland ; The Indian women’s cricket team proved far too strong for the less experienced South Auckland invitation team at Pukekohe High School yesterday. India scored 224, and then [needed only 38 of the scheduled 60 overs to bundle out South Auckland for 60. The star of the match was undoubtedly the Indian captain. Shanta Rangaswamy, who • scored a delightful 84 in 85 minutes. Karen Bourne, aged 18. was the best bowler for South Auckland, taking three for 35 off five overs. South Auckland had no answer to the accurate bowling of Diana Edulji and Susan Itticheria and apart from a well compiled 28 from Karen Plummer, no other batsman reached double figures.
