Wholesalers picketed
About 12 placard-carrying members of the Canterbury Committee on Southern Africa picketed two Christchurch liquor wholesalers last evening. j The police reported no incii dents outside either of the picketed businesses —Bishop and Company, Ltd, in Armagh Street, and Fletcher Humphreys. Ltd, in Colombo Street. The aim of the protest had
been to persuade customers not to buy South African wines, said a spokesman for the organisers, Mrs M. Logeman. “We just handed out pamphlets—there was no disruption,” she said. Her committee was concerned about the exploitation of black agricultural workers in the South African ’ wine industry.
