Leeston, 30.11.76. 2588 MALVERN COUNTY COUNCIL FIRE RESTRICTIONS PURSUANT to the provisions of Section 20 of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1955, public notice is hereby given that the lighting of fires in the open in the whole of the Malvern County is prohibited as from and including Monday. December 13, 1976. until further notice. Burning may be carired out within the Malvern County between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. unless a heavy wind is blowing, or conditions are such that a fire is likely to spread, or during any period in respect of which a broadcast or published warning has been given totally prohibiting the lighting of fires. These restrictions shall apply in both urban and rural areas. Where a fire is lit in the rural area there must be a fire break of not less than 10m wide around the area to be burnt and immediate neighbours must be advised if burning is to be . carried out. The person lighting the fire is liable for any actionable damage sustained by any other person in conseouence of that action even if the fire is within the allowable burning times. Persons found contravening these restrictions will be prosecuted. A. C. WATSON. i Principal Rural Fire Officer. | 2524 NORTH CANTERBURY CATCHMENT BOARD WIND EROSION CONTROL SUBSIDY FOR WINDBREAK TREE PLANTING APPLICATIONS for the 1977 planting season for subsidy assistance to establish windbreaks to present soil erosion by wind action will be received by the Board up until February 10. 1977. The subsidy is payable on the preparation of the ground, the cost of trees and the planting of the trees and protective fencing from stock. The rate of subsidy is 2:1, subject to agreement that special cultivation and manage- • ment practices will be carried out.
