' Moose Lodge’ sold

PA Rotorua One of New Zealand's most famous homes, “Moose Lodge,” on the shores of Lake Rotoiti near Rotorua, was sold for $400,000 at auction in Rotorua yesterday. A 61-year-old South Canterbury fanner, Mi I. K. Campbell, of Waimate, bought the property and was prepared to bid to $550,000. He will retire to “Moose Lodge” to live with his wife and family. In March this year Mr Campbell sold his 1800hectare Waimate sheep and cattle farm. The auction of the lodge was conducted by Wrightson N.M.A., Ltd, and attracted about 150 people. It was the home of the late Sir Noel Cole and Lady Cole. The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Princess Anne have all stayed at “Moose Lodge” during visits to New Zealand.
