Mr J. Brand again board chairman
The ehairman of the Lyttelton' Harbour Board (Mr J. Brand) was yesterday re-elected unopposed for a sixth term in the post. This makes Mr Brand one of the board’s longest-serving chairmen. equalling Mr A. A. Macfarlane’s record six-year term from 1959 to 1965. Mr Brand has been a board representative of the Ashburton Borough and Ashburton County for the last 26 years. He has described the prospects for 1977 as “thrilling and momentous.” Within the next 12 montlis, the port of Lyttelton will be visited by the Queen, will be host to the Harbours Association annual conference, and will start operation as a fully containerised port.
