PA Wellington The Minister of Immigra, tion (Mr Gill) has announced more details on the over, stayers’ register, which wiH be reopened from Decembe) 20 to January 31.
“Oxerstayers eligible ta register, but who did not dp so previously, and who now feel uneasy because they have no authorisation their position in New Zealand, may request a certifi* cate from their nearest district office of the Depan, ment of Labour," Mr GiH said. “The certificates will confirm the eligibility of their holders to register, and will be valid until January 3L # They will say that th*, holder arrived in New Zetland before April 10, and is entitled to register, while the overstayers’ register is open,” he said. Any person who a certificate would be rec quired to return it when plying to the Department (JiLabour to register on or after December 20. Mr Gill said that registering would have w; take their passport or cerC tificate of identity wi(Jthem.
“Naines will not be placed, on the register until proof (flidentity is produced, and tin required application form completed,” he said.
