PA Auckland The Washdyke gelding, Grey Way. finished sixth in the Owens Stakes, won by Oranmore, at Ellerslie on Saturday. Grev Wav, hanging one way then the other, failed to race at all generously. His trainer, E. P. Corby, after a discussion with the horse's rider. R. J. Skelton, abandoned plans to continue with the horse at Avondale. Instead Grey Way will be taken to Otaki for the Topsy Stakes, a weight-for-age 1600 m event at Otaki on December 11.
