V.D. phone service
PA Wellington A Wellington telephone answering service to provide information about venereal disease will be opened by the Health Department today. The service, the first of its kind in New Zealand, will enable people to find out about the symptoms of venereal disease and where to go for testing and treatment. The V.D. answer service arose from discussions between venereologists and Health Department officials, and Wellington was chosen as the centre for a trial service. The Wellington Medical Officer of Health (Dr W. J. S. Barnes) said other centres might follow if the Wellington service proved successful.
