F5000 series to Redman
NZPA-Reuter Riverside Brian Redman, of England, captured his third S.C.C.A.U.S.A.C. Formula 5000 driving title on Sunday at the Riverside international raceway, in California. Redman finished third in the 40-lap, 100.8 mile finale to edge out Al Unser (United States) by 20 points for the series championship. Redrpan earned 132 points in the seven-event road-racing series.
Redman performed with distinction in the last Tasman series in a two-litre Chevron, which was severely underpowered compared with the F5OOO machines of the Australian and New Zealand drivers.
