NZPA-Reuter Tokyo The ousted Chinese Deputy Prime Minister, Teng Hsiao*ping is now in hospital with gunshot wounds inflicted when he forced his way in to see Chairman Mao Tse-tung before he died, the Japanese newspaper, “Mainichi” reported yesterday, according to the Agence France-Presse.

Quoting informed sources in Peking, the paper said Teng was shot by the Chairman’s security' guards when he tried to meet Chairman Mao despite the latter’s refusal.

The paper, however, did not say exactly when Teng, whose ouster was officially announced on April 7, was shot.
