Williams takes ‘Lion' lead
Kevin Williams, a sportsman with many varied talents, h.-.s taken a narrow lead in the Lion “Player of the Day” competition after the first round of Christchurch senior cricket. Last week, Williams opened his season with three points for a very useful double for BurhsideWest University against High School Old Boys at Ham. Although he was dismissed without scoring on Saturday, his excellent bowling spell earned him another two points. The two players trailing Williams by one point, Stephen Boock (St Albans) and lan Wilson (Sydenham), gained points on both days in their speciality bowling roles. Six others share fourth position with three points each.

Three points, Denis Smolensk!’ (Sydenham), Bruce Irving (Lancaster Park), Graeme Pulley (East-Shirley), Cran Bull (Old Boys) two points, Wilson, Andrew Nuttall (Lancaster Park), Joe Harrison (St Albans), Williams; one point, David Stead (Riccarton), Murray Polson (Old Collegians), Boock, John Mitchell (BurnsideWest).
