Woman hurt in collision
An elderly woman suffered extensive injuries after two cars collided at the intersection of Lonsdale Street and Marine Parade, New Brighton, at 5.15 p.m. yesterday. She is May Atkinson, of 235 Mount Pleasant Road, who was admitted to the intensive-care unit of the Christchurch Hospital with head, arm, and leg injuries. Her condition last evening was given as serious. A young motor-cyclist suffered leg injuries when his machine and a car collided at the intersection of Weedons Ross Road and the Main South Road about 2.40 p.m. on Saturday. He is Robert Gibson, of Woodlands Place, Aranui, whose condition last evening was given as satisfactory.
