Aston Martin to race 300 km/h car
NZPA London. Aston Martin has joined Jaguar in a return to world motor-racing circuits. A Jaguar XJ-12 “Supercat” saloon had its debut at Silverstone last month, and Aston Martin this week announced plans to compete in next June’s 24-hours Le Mans race.
Both cars last competed officially in the fifties, and dominated European touring car races.
The competitive Aston Martin will be a 300 km/h light-weight version powered by a 5.3 litre V-8 engine. It is expected to make its racing debut at Silverstone next May.
Rugby league. — Australian international centre, Bobby Fulton. has signed a three-year contract to play for Eastern Suburbs Rugby League Club. His decision to accent the lucrative offer ended weeks of speculation about his future.
