Muggeridge on radio
' The British journalist, ! television personality and author, Malcolm Muggeridge is perhaps one of the most paradoxical figures of our time and there will be much interest in his first visit to New Zealand.
His wry, sceptical and | sometimes outrageous, huimour caused him to be described as “a professional denouncer”.
; A former editor of [“Punch” and a prolific writer, he was also Rector lof Edinburgh University, a !post from which he resigned 'with the usual barrage of I publicity that greets his acItions early in 1968. His [series of' autobiographical 'books he has chosen to enl title “Chronicles of Wasted Time”. Radio New Zealand will | not only be broadcasting public lectures that Mr Muggeridge will be giving here between October 19 and November 2, but will also be covering his visit in interviews, discussions and a church service in which the controversial celebrity will preach the sermon. for Today” — National Pro-, [gramme 10 a.m.; “All Things [Considered” National Pro--1 gramme (a.m.) will include a broadcast of Malcolm Muggeridge’s talk “Confessions of a Superannuated Communicator" (given the day before in Wellington). Saturday October 23: “Faith for Today” — National Programme 10 a.m.
, Sunday October 24: Church Service — National [Programme 11 a.m. (North ! Island stations) from the |T akapuna Presbyterian ! Church with Malcolm Mug'geridge as the preacher. “In ! Dialogue” — Community •Station Network 9.05 p.m. Recorded broadcast of his discussion with a panel of six young people at the Auckland Town Hall that afternoon.
Tuesday October 26: “The Real Crisis of Our Time” — Concert Programme 8 p.m. lecture from Wellington recorded on October 20.
Tuesday November 2: “Facing the Future with Christ” — Concert Programme 8 p.m. lecture in Christchurch recorded on October 22.
