No radiation in sailors’ blood
PA Auckland No radiation activity had been detected in the blood which sailors in the U.S.S. Long Beach gave to the Auckland blood transfusion service last week, said Dr R. F. Moody, medical superintendent-in-chief of the Auckland Hospital Board, : yesterday. I He denied reports that significant quantities of radiation had been found in the sailors’ blood. “The blood that was taken w T as monitored by the radiation safety officer at Auckland Hospital.” Dr Moody said, “i > radiation activity was detected. “I believe that the blood so generously given by the Long Beach sailors is safe for human use and will be used,” he said.
