AUCKLAND DOUBLE

2.40 p.m.— MITCHELSON CUP $10,000; 2400 m. 1 4413 HAPPY WILLIAM (17) 56.5. Thoroughly consistent and looks to be standing up well to his racing. Challenged 200 m then faded last bit, over 2200 m at Ellerslie last Saturday. Sure to be prominent again. W. Robinson 2 0516 PREPAK (12) 55. Good winner two starts back over 2100 m at Tauranga in September with 53.5 kg. Beaten meanwhile, over 2200 m at Avondale in October, but had none the best of the running. Very game but prefers soft ground.

D. Peake 3 3192 PROUD SOVEREIGN (18) 52. Consistent except for two starts back when he failed behind Prepak at Tauranga. Made amends with solid second behind Royal Cadenza over 2200 m at Ellerslie last Saturday. In that form he should go well again. R. Compton 4 6224 KAUERE LAD (13) 51. Back in good form after disappointing for a time. Battled home determinedly after Royal Cadenza, Proud Sovereign, and Happy William, over 2200 m last Saturday. Usually runs on well. Any rain would probably be a help. S. Autridge 5 1121 ROYAL CADENZA (16) 51. Came through the intermediate grades looking good and readied top form when winning well over 2200 m at Ellerslie last Saturday. Up 3kg for this one but looks a stayer likely to go the 2400 m better than most. R. Vance 6 7 DUMAR (4) 50.5. Unsuccessful in three Melbourne starts early in the spring and this will be its second race since return. Likes the wet and with conditions to suit could go well.

D. Wyatt 7 7080 OUR COUNTESS (7) 50.5. Has shown plenty of ability at times and at best would be capable of upsetting this field. Latest form however fairly ordinary.

8 4126 ALL HANDS (14) 50. Ended run of good form when beaten behind Syn-

drome over 2030 m at Matamata on Tuesday. 9 0420 FLASH AFFAIR (1) 49 5. Failed to run on and finished fifteenth behind Royal Cadenza over 2200 m at Ellerslie last Saturday. Previously second behind Proud Sovereign over 2200 m at Avondale on September 4.

10 156 SANYO (2) 49.5. Staged surprise comeback to form when winning three starts back over 1900 m at Rotorua on October 2. Beaten over 2200 m at Avondale on October 2, and over 2200 m at Ellerslie last Saturday. J. Riordan 11 1130 BOLD BEN (15) 48. Failed to measure up last Saturday when tenth behind Royal Cadenza. Covered some extra ground but would need to improve a good deal to lead in this field. R. Elliott 12 1100 DIVINE CLOUD (10) 48. Faded to finish last two starts back over 2000 m at Avondale on October 4. No threat on that form. 13 0500 KANDY KING (5) 48 Hit top form u’hen it won over 2200 m at Avondale on July 3. Latest efforts have fallen well below that standard.

14 035 SUPER VALUE (9) 48. Disappointing behind Royal Cadenza last Saturday but unlucky in being forced over fair amount of extra ground. Showed up well this time last year. Worth considering still. 16 3061 PURE GLORY (11) 47.5. Best form through intermediate grades very promising and includes last-start win. 2200 m at Te Aroha. on September 29. Down 4.5 kg in this but the opposition is much stronger. K. Reggett 17 4080 FAIR MONTANA (6) 47. Has been too long out of reasonable form to be considered. L. Douglas

18 6505 GREYSUN (8) 47. Finished tenth behind Pure Glory at Te Aroha and weakened to fifth last time out. over 2000 m at Te Rapa on October 5. Hard to allow any chance. Scratched: Tyrant (3). EPSOM HANDICAP $4000; 1200 m. 1 3113 ORANMORE (4) 65.5. Great little speedster who won two starts back, over 1200 m at Avondale under C3kg. Weakened from pacemaking under 63kg, over 1200 m at Ellerslie last Saturday. Likely to be very prominent but weight is a steadier 2 TUDOR LIGHT (10) 58.5. Won A.R.C. Easter Handicap the start before last with 56kg but beaten in the Oaks, at Ellerslie, on a wet track. Represents real class W. Robinson 3 93 BLUE BLOOD (9) 57.5. Classy sprinter with A.R.C. Railway and W.R.C. Telefraph wins to his credit. Came from nowhere to third last start, over 1200 m at Avondale on October 2 and should be better for the run. D. Peake 4 10 GOOD GIFT (7) 54. Good first-up win over 1200 m at Avondale on September 4. Hurt during race and beaten off over 1200 m at Tauranga on September 25. Looks to have recovered. In top form would be one of the hardest to beat. 5 PATRONIZE (11) 53. A.R.C. Adams Handicap winner last summer and very good sprinter. Resumes racing here though after a spell since Hie Autumn and could be expected to need the run. A. Tweedie 6 SOVEREIGN BILL (1) 50.5. Has not raced for two years. Impossible on that account to allow him any chance. 7 3511 HEAD PLANET (2) 49.5. In peak form with successive wins in last two starts over 1200 m at Avondale on October 4, and over 1400 m at Matamata on Tuesday. Up against tougher opposition here but form commands respect. 8 2 SILVER IMAGE (8) 49. Very fast and unlucky not to have won last race, over 1200 m at Tauranga in September after poor start. Looks set to race well here. R. Vance 10 WILD CALL (6) 48. Looked good in intermediate company and has won twice on this course. Resuming after spell but could be worth some attention.

K. Reggett 11 5 NIPPY JIM (12) 47.5. Fast but up against 100 many good ones in this field. Scratched: Princess Cecily (3).
