Women’s team squashed

Three male egos received; something of a boost when the Suburbs drvis’on four squash team comfortably beat the four top Canterbury women on Tuesday night. Kathy Graham, a former South island champion, was the only woman to meet! with success. She con-| vtncmgly beat the Suburbs Na 4, Gary Hartley, in three; straight games. A major surprise of the evening was the defeat of! the 22-year-old national colt/ Ros Stanton, by the top. Suburbs player, Doug Law-i rie.

Miss Stanton took the first game comfortably enough but Lawrie’s short game came right from then and he droppea his way to a win in four games In the other games Merle Holland lost 0-3 to Graham Thorp and Margaret Steele lost 1-3 to Mac Kaa. Mrs Holland delights m using the boast and drop herself but Thorp beat her at her own game.
