i petition at an athletics meet-1 ling at Gateshead, Durham. I Walker coasted home in; Imin 49.985ec, more than! 2sec ahead of Ray Weath-! erburn (Britain). Rod Dixon surged away over the last 200 m to win the mile race in 4min o.ssec, Isec ahead of Sebastian Coe (Britain). The British shot put champion, Geoff Capes, had another win over his American rival, Al Feuerback, with a winning put of ,21.03 m.
