$US36M aid to Spain
NZPA-Reuter Washington The United States House of Representatives has overwhelmingly approved legislation authorising SUS36M in aid to Spain as part of a new treaty between the two countries on American military bases in Spain. The measure will now go to the Senate, which has already ratified the treaty. The House approved the authorisation bill by 331 to 34.
The pact, formally the treaty of friendship and cooperation between the United States and Spain, was signed in Madrid on January 24. The Senate ratified it on May 21.
