Animals die in fire
Staff reporter Timaru A dog and a cat died of smoke inhalation when fire swept through a singlestorey wooden house at 13 Hertford Street, Timaru, about 3.30 pm. yesterday. Severe damage was caused to the structure and contents of the house.
The Timaru Fire Brigade sent two fire engines, but the building was well alight by the time they arrived. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
