Damages of $11,000 awarded
General damages of $ll,OOO have been awarded by a jury in the Supreme Court to Anthony Francis Clark, aged 22, a labourer, for injuries he suffered to his left leg and economic loss arising from a motor accident in 1973.
Mr Justice Somers presided over the trial. Mr Clark was also awarded special damages of i 51508.77 which were not disputed. Mr Clark claimed general damages of $12,000 from Donold James Bowie, a company director, who denied liability.
Evidence was given that Mr Clark, who was then aged 19. was riding a motor-cycle on Victoria Street on September 6, 1973, when he collided with a car driven by Mr Bowie at the Peterborough) Street intersection.
Mr A. C. Hughes-Johnson appeared for Mr Clark and Mr I. J. D. Hall for Mr Bowie.
