Staff dispute settled
The dispute between Sunnyside nurses and the North Canterbury, Hospital Board over staffing of the psychiatric unit at Princess Margaret Hospital has been resolved.
After a meeting of the board and representatives from the Sunnyside subgroup of the Public Service Association, the board’s chairman (Mr T. C. Grigg) and the sub-group chairman (Mr G. Nimmo) announced details of the agreement.' Registered psychiatric nurses recruited for the unit at the Princess Margaret Hospital will be attached to Sunnyside Hospital and seconded to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Measures will be incorporated to protect the status and conditions of service of senior staff with long experience in the unit. A joint working party will be set up to work out the details of this agreement.
