Sir, — The war is over but the American propaganda still lingers on. The article on Vietnam today states that by the beginning of 1975 the North Vietnamese Politburo had decided to scrap the Paris peace agreement, implying that North Vietnam was responsible for the breakdown of the agreement. This implication is nothing but a restatement of false American propaganda spread far and wide since 1973 by the Western news media, “The Press” included. The facts (verified by American observers in South Vietnam) are that the U.S. Government and its Vietnamese puppet ignored the peace agreement right from the beginning. Ine political provisions were made illegal immediately (even to publish the agreement was a crime) and Thieu never stopped military attacks whereas the P.R.G. did. The truth is that the agreement was scrapped not by the “North” Vietnamese in 1975 but by the Americans in 1973 immediately after they signed it. — Yours, etc., JOHN CHRISTIE. September 14, 1976.
